Eva Donckers – concrete block, 2020
In March 2020 Eva Donckers went on an artist residency in Saint-Louis (Senegal). During her stay, she collaborated with a local storyteller: Idy Diallo. Guided by his stories and daily life in Saint-Louis, Donckers shot different analogue photographs in the area while walking around. Back in Antwerp, she collaborated with Lamine Diouf to translate the Wolof texts from Idy to French. The final work is a combination of collected texts from Idy and photographs by Donckers. During Antwerp Art, she presents one selected image and text.
This artwork is selected by Shirley Villavicencio Pizango. “I choose this picture because of the anonymity. I can imagine so many stories that can tell what’s this picture about. Strong colors and composition of shadows and light.”
Printed by Zwartopwit.be on Alu 3mm (“Dibond”): an aluminium composite with an inner core of PE and 2-sided white lacquered aluminium.
