Catherine Lemblé – Montenvers (Curtains)

Montenvers (Curtains) is part of the series Bühne. The series Bühne is inspired by the romantic cultural movement that emerged during the industrial revolution. In a world that was becoming increasingly urbanized and more mechanical, the nineteenth-century artists of the time sought refuge in nature. Two centuries later, Catherine Lemblé is witnessing a similar movement. In Bühne man is in search of its origin. Nature becomes an intermezzo in the busy acts of life, the panorama becomes a stage where a man plays out a forgotten part.

This artwork is selected by Paule Josephe. “The colours in this image are harmonious with their small nuances. We love that in this visual image, you also get a lot of textural feelings. The gate can be a symbol for either a new beginning or an open ending. You can imagine a sort of freedom, but that there’s still a way to be found to get to that point of liberation.”
